If our vines could talk, they would probably have many exciting stories to tell, as the Weegmüller vineyard has been in existence for more than three hundred years, making it one of the oldest estates in the Palatinate. In 1657, the Weegmüller family, an old Zurich council family, decided to move from Switzerland to the Palatinate. Almost 20 years later, the founder of the winery, Nikolaus Weegmüller, was naturalized in Neustadt-Haardt – in the middle of the German Wine Route. The fact that the former Swiss city councillors would now become Palatinate winegrowers was thus sealed. However, it was to take another ten years before the family began to grow wine on the excellent clay and sandstone soils of their property. The year was 1685 – the birth year of the Weegmüller winery.

the story

Over the centuries – and over eleven family generations – the estate has grown to a size of around 15 hectares. Several sunny, top-class vineyards in the Mittelhaardt region grow different varieties that have the potential to produce excellent Palatinate white wines. Unique wines from the “Balcony of the Palatinate”, which some also call “Germany’s sun terrace”.
